The Minnesota Business Community agenda includes public policy positions aimed at eliminating the roadblocks that stifle prosperity, clearing the way for businesses to grow and prosper.  When business prospers so do our communities and our state.

Top Issues: 

Each year, the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce advances positions on nearly 50 issues to the Legislature. These policies ensure that Minnesota's economy continues to grow.  Click on the following policy areas to read more about the current issues affecting business growth in Minnesota.

• Transportation:  Passage of the proposed state constitutional amendment that would dedicate all proceeds from motor vehicle sales tax (MVST) to transportation purposes as part of a strategy to enact long-term and sustainable funding for highways and transit.
• Health care reform:  Make quality health care affordable to all Minnesotans with initatives in both the legislative and nonlegislative arenas.
• Taxes:   Government should live within its means.  Whether the state budget is in deficit or surplus, policy-makers must find a more efficient way to deliver government services. 
• Energy:    Ensure reliable and cost-effective delivery of electricity by investing in our infrastructure and adopting a comprehensive approach including base load electricity, conservation initiatives, and renewable energy development.
• Environment:     Cleanup of polluted waters and reduced mercury emissions can help prevent new limits on business growth. 

These policies directly or indirectly create a more positive business environment and help improve and maintain Minnesota’s recovering economy.
